Scholarship applications are now open for funding toward first-year studies at RRC Polytech, the University of Manitoba, or the University of Winnipeg
WINNIPEG, MB – The Westland Foundation is inviting students from eight inner-Winnipeg high schools to apply for Westland Foundation Education Fund (WFEF) scholarships to help cover tuition at RRC Polytech, the University of Manitoba (UM), or the University of Winnipeg (UW). Applications are open until June 30, 2026.
“Empowering inner-Winnipeg youth through education is at the heart of everything we do,” said John Prystanski, Founder & President of the Westland Foundation. “Every year, students from our inner-Winnipeg community earn these scholarships and take an important step toward a brighter future. I encourage all eligible graduating students to apply by June 30 and be rewarded for their hard work.”
Eligible students must have completed Grade 12 in the 2023-24, 2024-25, or 2025-26 school years and plan to enroll full-time at one of the three partner post-secondary institutions. Scholarships are awarded based on the total number of individual final marks in every subject from Grades 7 to 12 at an inner-Winnipeg school.
Isabella McEvoy, a Sisler High School graduate now studying BSc Applied Computer Science Honours at the University of Winnipeg, said, “The Westland Foundation Education Fund lifted a great weight off my shoulders when it comes to paying tuition. It allowed me to focus on my studies and goals without the constant stress of figuring out how to cover my school expenses.”
In 2025-26, 22 students received a total of $87,000 in scholarship support. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $750,000 in scholarships to inner-Winnipeg students.

The Westland Foundation is a volunteer-driven charitable organization dedicated to empowering inner-Winnipeg youth through education. For over 33 years, the Foundation has strived to provide scholarships to students from eight inner-Winnipeg high schools to help remove financial barriers and support their pursuit of post-secondary education at RRC Polytech, the University of Winnipeg, and the University of Manitoba.
